ASHLEY MARIE PETREY, ATTORNEY AT LAW
Federal and State Criminal Defense
Attorney Ashley Marie Petrey specializes in federal and state criminal defense throughout Colorado's western slope and beyond. Ashley is an experienced criminal trial attorney and has handled thousands of cases during the thousands of hours she's spent in the courthouses of Chicago, Miami, and Colorado.
Upholding her clients' Constitutional rights under the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 14th Amendments embodies the core of her practice as a criminal defense lawyer and she will work tirelessly to ensure those rights are protected throughout the pendency of your case.
Ashley believes in a holistic approach to the practice of law and works under the tenets of her personal hero, Abraham Lincoln, who famously reminded us long ago - "[w]hatever you are, be a good one."
Ashley doesn't cherry-pick her cases so she can put a meaningless win/loss record on her website. Ashley takes difficult cases covering a variety of controversial subjects and creates effective, individualized litigation strategies to reach the best outcome possible for each one.
Ashley is admitted to practice law in all Colorado State and Federal District Courts and all Florida State Courts. She also holds contracts with both the Colorado Office of Alternate Defense Counsel (both adult and juvenile) and the Federal Criminal Justice Act Panel.
Ashley holds an B.S. in Criminal Justice Sciences and interned for a suburban Chicago police department as a part of her undergraduate studies. During her police internship, she worked on sex and drug cases, DUI patrol, and undercover stings. Ashley was also the president of the Chicago John Marshall Law School's Criminal Law Society during both her second and third years as well as a standout intern for the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender's Murder Task Force. Ashley tried several serious felony and murder cases during her tenure as a student practitioner with Cook County.
Six months before graduating from law school, Ashley was offered a position as an Assistant Public Defender in the nationally recognized Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office and worked in their misdemeanor, juvenile, DUI, and felony trial divisions before relocating to Colorado.
Ashley left music school at the age of 20 to pursue a career in criminal law but still performs regularly and has appeared on stages across the world. In her spare time, you can find Ashley running marathons, practicing yoga, and spending time outdoors with her husband, a local physician.
